The Gallery, which is situated on the second floor of the Pitti Palace, has a fine collection of paintings and sculpture, mostly Italian, dating from the late 18th century to World War I.
The elegant rooms, which were formerly inhabited by the Lorraine grand-dukes, are decorated with works of the neo-classical and romantic periods. There is also a splendid collection of works by artists of the Macchiaioli movement and of other Italian schools of the later 19th and early 20th centuries.
Visiting hours: Daily, 8.15-13.50. Closed on the 2nd and 4th Sunday and 1st, 3rd and 5th Monday of each month, New Year’s Day, May 1st and Christmas Day.
Tickets: valid also for the Costume Gallery. Full price Euro 5,00. Reduced Euro 2,50. Free admission and combined tickets.

Disabled persons: Lifts available off the courtyard.
Schools: Free entry. Booking is compulsory but there is no charge (Tel: +39 055290112). A list of the students and teachers on headed note-paper must be handed in at the ticket office. If a guide is required, arrangements can be made with Firenze Musei when booking the visit. Charge: Euro 3 per student.
