The collection can be described as princely, in that many pieces were made for the grand-ducal court or were gifts from other European rulers.
The Museum is situated in the Casino del Cavaliere, an elegant little villa at the very top of the Boboli Gardens, from which one may enjoy a superb view.
Opening hours: Daily: 8:15 - 16:30 (November February). 8:15 - 17:30 (March and October). 8:15 - 18:30 (April, May and September). 8:15 - 19:30 (June August). Closed on the 1st. and the last Monday of each month, New Year’s Day, May 1st and Christman Day.
Tickets: Full price Euro 4,00, Reduced Euro 2,00. Free admission and combined tickets. Tickets valid also for the Boboli Gardens and the Museo degli Argenti (The Medici Treasury).

Disabled persons: Disabled visitors may enter the gardens through the archway at the left end of the palace façade or from the Annalena entrance in via Romana, no.39.
Because of the steepness of the paths parts of the gardens are not easily accessible to persons in wheelchairs.

A list of the students and teachers on headed note-paper must be handed in at the entrance.
If a guide is required, arrangements can be made with Firenze Musei when booking the visit. Charge: Euro 3 per student.
